SEFAR® Architecture Announces New Exterior ‘Sunscreen’ PTFE Fabric

Product Offers Unparalleled UV Protection With High Light Transmission

Publish Date: Tuesday, February 12, 2013

DEPEW, NY…SEFAR® Architecture introduces EL-30-T1-UV – an inert, light transmitting fluorpolymer 100 percent PTFE fabric ideal for use in exterior shading applications, including membrane and lamellar structures, retractable canopies, umbrellas, sun awnings and screens.

EL-30-T1-UV contains a unique UV absorbing additive in its coating, which reduces the amount of UVA and UVB rays transmitted through the fabric. This results in a fabric with a sun protection factor, or SPF, value of 80 to those underneath, yet still provides 30 percent light transmission. Other traditional PTFE fabrics typically only offer an SPF value of 10 to 15, with less than 15 percent light transmission.

Delivering high light diffusion with minimal color shift, EL-30-T1-UV is colorfast, dirt and water repellent, does not allow moisture absorption, and is low in weight per square meter with maximum tensile strength.

“This is an exciting addition to our line up of exterior fabrics,” says Peter Katcha, Director, North American Sales for SEFAR Architecture. “EL-30-T1-UV takes solar shading with fabric to a new level, offering unprecedented SPF protection. And like all of our fabrics, this product is 100 percent PTFE and pliable – ideal for static or retractable awning and canopy systems.”

The EL-30-T1-UV features SEFAR Architecture’s 10-year full replacement warranty.
