OWATONNA, MN –Nicholas Peake, Architectural Design Specialist with Viracon, has earned accreditation as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED®) Green Associate from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). A LEED Green Associate demonstrates the knowledge and skill needed to understand and support green design, construction, and operations.

In his current role, Peake works with architects to specify Viracon products that meet their aesthetic and functional needs. Peake’s understanding of LEED principles will allow him to support architects working on LEED-certified and other sustainable building projects.

“Viracon’s Architectural Design Department provides architects with design solutions and technical assistance to support their glass selection process. An important part of this assistance is understanding how glass affects sustainable building design, including the LEED Green Building Rating System,“ says Alissa Schmidt, Viracon’s Architectural Design Manager. “Nick’s understanding of glass and green building will be invaluable when interacting with architects.”

Peake joins a group of more than 20 individuals at Viracon with LEED credentials. Other employees in the Architectural Design Department with LEED credentials include

Architectural Design Manager Alissa Schmidt, Architectural Design Associate Lance Lawrence and Architectural Design Specialist Marni Windschitl.

Peake joined Viracon’s Architectural Design Department in March 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in environmental design and a Master of Architecture, both from North Dakota State University.
